Casting News - Mahershala Ali to Star in Season 2 of HBO's 'Task'; 'Shogun' Adds 5 Actors; Plus 2 More Updates!

HBO's TASK
  • Mahershala Ali has been cast as a new series regular on the drama's upcoming second season. He has won two Academy Awards for his supporting performances in Moonlight and Green Book. He also starred in the third season of HBO's True Detective and recurred on Hulu's Ramy.
  • He will play Eddie Barnes, a seasoned and well-respected DEA agent in Philadelphia whose team comes into conflict with Tom's (Mark Ruffalo) unit.
FX's SHOGUN
  • Risei Kukihara, Ryô Satô, Seishiro Nishida, Mantaro Koichi and Takashi Yamaguchi have joined the cast of the drama's upcoming second season. Kukihara previously recurred on Netflix's Two Husbands One Wife. Satô guest starred on Divorce Lawyer Spider and Monsutâ. Nishida starred in the film Bibalam. Koichi starred in the Japanese series Manatsu no Cinderella and Unmet: A Neurosurgeon's Diary. Yamaguchi guest starred on Apple TV's Pachinko and FOX's Accused.
  • Kukihara will play Gabriel. Satô will play Rin. Nishida will play Jōshin, Koichi will play Saitō. Yamaguchi will play Kanō.
HBO's YOUTH
  • Harriet Walter, Anne Reid and Freddie Fox have landed recurring roles on the upcoming comedy created by and starring Sharon Horgan. Walter previously recurred on HBO's Succession and Apple TV's Ted Lasso, receiving four Emmy Award nominations for her guest roles. Reid starred for five seasons in BBC One's Last Tango in Halifax and three seasons in ITV's Sanditon. Fox recurred on Hulu's The Great, Apple TV's Slow Horses and HBO's House of the Dragon.
  • No details were immediately announced about the characters they will be playing.
