HBO's THE WHITE LOTUS
- Laura Dern will reunite with writer Mike White on the upcoming fourth installment of the anthology drama. Dern and White previously worked together in the 2007 film Year of the Dog and for two seasons in HBO's Enlightened. Dern has received three Academy Award nominations - winning in 2020 for her supporting role in Marriage Story. She has also garnered nine Emmy Award nominations - winning one in 2017 for her performance in HBO's Big Little Lies.
- No details were immediately announced about the character she will be playing. She will succeed Helena Bonham Carter in a lead role in the new installment. Carter exited the series last week and the character has been rewritten to serve Dern.
HULU's PHONY
- Meera Syal, Grace Brennan, Mahaela Park, Maliq Johnson and Colter Lee will co-star on the upcoming comedy starring Connie Britton and Sam Nivola. Syal currently stars in Prime Video's The Devil's Hour, which has been renewed for a third season. Brennan appears in the upcoming films Adulting and The Lonely Woman. Park starred in the short film 11:11. Johnson starred in Netflix's one-season drama Grand Army. Lee will make his acting debut on the series.
- Syal will play Sharla, a private investigator who lives on the outskirts of town. Sonny (Nivola) hires her to help him find his mother, Ellen (Britton). Sharla believes in "alternative knowledge," something Sonny finds useful. She has a hard exterior, a defense mechanism after years of disappointment, but she's more sensitive than she lets on.
- Brennan will play Mallory, Sonny's middle school crush who just re-enrolled in public school after being homeschooled by her religious parents for the last few years. She struggles to figure out where she fits in socially at her new school, and moreover, what she actually believes in. Authentic to a fault, she is skeptical of Sonny's predicament and can't help but voice what she thinks.
- Park will play Chloe, Sonny's girlfriend and class president of Delby High. She cares deeply for Sonny, even as his accident presents obstacles with their relationship. Deep down, Chloe feels misunderstood and likes when she's seen for who she really is: a secret weirdo.
- Johnson will play Vogel, Sonny's childhood best friend. He's on the Delby soccer team, but a recent injury has him questioning if sports are really his thing. He's a popular goofball with a big heart that Sonny can always rely on, a friend who is down for anything.
- Lee will play Weldon, Mallory's cousin and a new student at Delby High. He's an outsider who doesn't see himself that way. He becomes Sonny's biggest confidant and the most fervent believer that Sonny is right about his mom.
FOX's THE INTERROGATOR
- Michael Beach has been cast as a series regular on the upcoming drama created by and starring Stephen Fry. He previously starred for five seasons in NBC's Third Watch, two seasons in Apple TV's Truth Be Told, and in the third season of Paramount+'s Mayor of Kingstown. He also recurred on The CW's The 100, CBS' S.W.A.T., ABC's The Rookie, NBC's Chicago P.D., CBS' SEAL Team, Paramount+'s Tulsa King, and Netflix's The Perfect Couple.
- He will play Louis, the first member of Conrad Henry's (Fry) team. Dryly witty, with a warm, fatherly smile, and a twinkle in his eye that belies a very harrowing past, his role on the team is a jack-of-all-trades - he's the AV and IT expert. He's the voice in Henry's ear with facts and figures. He's a handyman: great with electronics, great with explosives, and he can even solve plumbing problems. He's Henry's best friend, his father-confessor, his moral touchstones - because they were each other's saviors.
