During Prime Video's Obsessed Fest today, the streamer renewed its original drama series Every Year After for a second season. Carley Fortune's novel "One Golden Summer" will serve as the source material for the new season.
The new season will be told from the perspective of Alice Everly, a photographer who took a key shot of Charlie, Sam and Percy in the banana boat the summer she was 17. She finds her way back to Barry's Bay to help take care of Nan, her grandmother, and falls for Charlie in the process.
In its first season, the drama starred Sadie Soverall, Matt Cornett, Michael Bradway, Aurora Perrineau, Abigail Cowen and Joseph Chiu.
Amy B. Harris will return as showrunner for the second season. She executive produces with Fortune, Lindsey Liberatore, Amy Rardin, John Stephens and Grace Gilroy. Amazon MGM Studios, A.B. Baby Productions, Hook & Harmony Productions and Reunion Pacific Entertainment produce.
"The response to Every Year After has been truly extraordinary, underscoring the universal appeal of Carley Fortune's storytelling and the deep connection audiences have formed with the world of Barry's Bay," said Peter Friedlander, Head of Global Television, Amazon MGM Studios. "We're incredibly grateful to Carley, Amy B. Harris, our exceptional cast and creative team, and the passionate fans who have embraced this series around the globe. We're excited to return to Barry's Bay and bring audiences another deeply emotional and unforgettable chapter."
