The eight-episode first season of the comedy - a spinoff of FOX's Martin - will debut on Tuesday, September 1 with its first two episodes. New episodes will then be released weekly every Tuesday until the season finale on October 13.
Nearly three decades after audiences first met him, Varnell Hill (Davidson) is stepping back into the spotlight - and he's determined to prove he's still the star of the show. Set behind the scenes of a long-running late-night talk show, the sitcom follows Varnell as he fights to stay relevant in a rapidly changing entertainment landscape. Between network executives eager to modernize the show, a chaotic writers' room, celebrity guests, family drama, and his own outsized ego, Varnell quickly discovers that keeping a television empire together may be harder than building one in the first place.
In addition to Davidson, the comedy stars Kym Whitley, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Nick Cafero, Emmanuel Hudson and Chris Williams.
Martin Lawrence will reprise his role as Martin Payne on a recurring basis. Addition guest stars include Ms. Pat, Deon Cole, Damon Wayans, Mike Epps and Omarion.
Bentley Kyle Evans developed the sitcom - serving as showrunner, writer and director. He executive produces with Davidson, Lawrence, Jesse Collins, Dionne Harmon, Stacy Lyles, Rae Proctor, Robert Lawrence, Mark Greenberg and Andrew Horne. BET Studios, Jesse Collins Entertainment, Runteldat Entertainment and Harvest Studios produce.
