Charlie Cox's iteration of the blind superhero, Daredevil, originated on Netflix's Daredevil, which ran for three seasons from 2015 to 2018. That series kicked off a mini, Marvel universe on the streamer - including Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist and culminated in the team-up series The Defenders. Disney+ revived the show as Daredevil: Born Again in 2025 and brought back several cast members from the original series - with Cox being joined by Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson (briefly) as Foggy Nelson, and Wilson Bethel as Bullseye.
Season 2 of Born Again started reuniting the heroes of the Defenders cast by bringing back Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones as a recurring guest star and Mike Colter as Luke Cage in a cameo during the finale. The third season will complete this Defenders reunion by officially bringing Finn Jones back as Iron Fist, alongside Ritter and Colter, to work alongside Cox's Daredevil.
The Defenders are expected to team up once again to take down Kingpin, who's been stripped of his title as New York City mayor and currently living in exile. Meanwhile, Matt Murdock has found himself in jail after publicly revealing his identity as Daredevil.
Furthermore, showrunner Dario Scardapane has exited the drama in the midst of post-production after Marvel opted not to continue his deal. It's currently unclear who will oversee the final work on the season.
