Netflix Renews "A Different World" for Season 2

Netflix has today renewed its original comedy series A Different World for a second season. The renewal comes after the 10-episode first season - a revival of the NBC sitcom that aired from 1987 to 1993 - was released on September 24, 2026.

After transformative summers, Deborah and her Hillman classmates return to campus for sophomore year with a "New Year, New Me" attitude, only to find themselves faced with past decisions, uncertain futures, new loves and friendships, and deeper questions of purpose... all while, of course, getting themselves into a whole lot of new mess.

The comedy stars Maleah Joi Moon, Alijah Kai, Cornell Young IV, Jordan Aaron Hall, Kennedi Reece and Chibuikem Uche.

The first season also saw multiple actors from the original series reprise their roles, including Jasmine Guy, Kadeem Hardison, Darryl M. Bell and Cree Summer.

Felicia Pride created the revival. She executive produces with Tom Werner, Reggie Rock Bythewood, Gina Prince-Bythewood, Mandy Summers and director Debbie Allen. The Carsey-Werner Company, Honey Chile Entertainment and Undisputed Cinema produce.

"It's so validating to be bolstered by our amazing audience," said Pride. "We are beyond excited to return to Hillman and continue to tell meaningful and heartfelt stories that resonate across generations. I am thrilled for our brilliant cast and our hard-working crew."

"We are so excited to see how audiences around the world have embraced the next chapter of this beloved series," added Tracey Pakosta, Vice President of Comedy Series, Netflix. "We believed in this incredible team from day one, and can't wait to see what unfolds next year at Hillman College."
