No details were immediately announced about the new series. Mike Daniels and Wolfe Coleman developed the project and will serve as co-showrunners on the first season, which is also being eyed for a premiere in 2028.
Daniels and Coleman will executive produce with film franchise star Vin Diesel, Sam Vincent, Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Jeff Kirschenbaum and Chris Morgan. Universal Television, One Race and Original Film will produce.
The series order comes as NBCUniversal and the film franchise celebrate $7 billion at the global box office across ten films over the past 25 years.
