Development News - March 25, 2014

AMC's Galyntine & Knifeman; CBS' Cuz-Bros & How I Met Your Dad; FOX's Sober Companion; NBC's Mission Control; and TNT's Proof.

TNT's PROOF
  • Matthew Modine (Weeds) has been cast on the drama pilot starring Jennifer Beals and Joe Morton. He will play Ivan Turing, a charming, eccentric, technology multi-billionaire facing a terminal cancer who is willing to apply all his resources to answering the question, is there anything beyond death?
CBS' HOW I MET YOUR DAD
  • Actress-singer Krysta Rodriguez (Smash) is departing the cast of the hybrid pilot following the first table read. Changes are being made to the character and that is the main reason for her exit. She was to play Juliet, Sally's (Greta Gerwig) best friend, a sexy, flamboyant force of nature who runs the most successful fashion blog in the country.
NBC's MISSION CONTROL
  • Eric Nenninger (Kickin' It) has joined the cast of the comedy pilot starring Krysten Ritter and Tommy Dewey. He will play Gordie, an earnest, good looking member of Dr. Mary Kendrick's (Ritter) crew.
FOX's SOBER COMPANION
  • British writer-actor Nick Frost (The World's End, Hot Fuzz) has been tapped for the lead role opposite Justin Long on the comedy pilot. He will play Robert, a charming, but self-destructive attorney who finds his world turned upside down when a court-appoint sober companion (Long) takes control of his life. Robert is intelligent, driven and an addict. So drunk that he does a faceplant in court, he is assigned a sober companion for the next 90 days, and must either stay away from everything he deems to be fun, or lose his job and probably his liberty.
CBS' CUZ-BROS
  • Debra Jo Rupp (That '70s Show) and Andrea Anders (Better Off Ted) have been cast on the comedy pilot starring Geoff Stults. Rupp will play Merle, Nick's (Stults) sweet, no-nonsense, widowed mother who lives nearby. Anders will play Stacey, the smart, tough lead anchor of the local news in L.A., where Nick does the sports.
AMC's KNIFEMAN
  • The Book Thief director Brian Percival has been tapped to helm the peiord drama pilot from writer Rolin Jones.
AMC's GALYNTINE
  • David Mackenzie (Starred Up, Perfect Sense) will direct the fantasy-action drama pilot from writer Jason Cahill.
