Development News - March 8, 2014

ABC's Bambi Cottages; CBS' Scorpion; The CW's iZombie & Supernatural: Bloodlines; FOX's Dead Boss & Empire; and NBC's Ellen More or Less, Fifth Wheel, Lifesaver & Two to Go.

THE CW's IZOMBIE
  • One Tree Hill alum Robert Buckley has been cast on the drama pilot from writers Rob Thomas and Diane Ruggiero. He will play Major, Liz's former fiance who is trying to make the transition to friend.
NBC's ELLEN MORE OR LESS
  • Tate Ellington (Remember Me) has joined the cast of the single camera comedy pilot starring Stacey McGunnigle. He will play Brian, the undisputed leader/mayor of the billing staff on the 12th floor.
FOX's DEAD BOSS
  • Amy Sedaris (Strangers with Candy, Alpha House) will co-star opposite Jane Krakowski on the comedy pilot. She will play Mary, one of Helen's (Krakowski) nosy, fault-finding co-workers and the gatekeeper to their boss who secretly loved the man and openly hated Helen.
NBC's LIFESAVER
  • Tony winner Harriet Harris has landed a regular role on the odd couple comedy pilot. She will play Liz Parmenter, Graham's (Christian Borle) mother.
NBC's TWO TO GO
  • Dana DeLorenzo and Kim Shaw have booked roles on the comedy pilot starring Christine Woods and Michael Stahl-David. They will play a newly engaged lesbian couple who are friends with Kurt (Stahl-David) and Laura (Woods).
NBC's FIFTH WHEEL
  • NBC has decided to push the single camera comedy project - which it ordered to pilot in January - into off season development. The move likely stems from difficulty in casting the lead roles. The project is an ensemble comedy of a tight-knit group of friends that centers around a young woman who confronts her new reality after her last single friend gets engaged. Heidi Niedermeyer and Elena Crevello wrote the pilot script and serve as supervising producers. Jonathan Groff had signed on as showrunner with Marc Buckland set to direct.
FOX's EMPIRE
  • Malik Yoba (Alphas, Revolution) has been cast on the drama pilot starring Terrence Howard. He will play Vernon Turner, Lucious' (Howard) longtime friend from the streets and business associate who is now the chairman of the board of Empire Entertainment.
ABC's BAMBI COTTAGES
  • Comedian Paul F. Tompkins (Comedy Bang Bang) will star on the single camera comedy pilot opposite Molly Shannon. He will play Teddy Burke, a charming and likable dream. There's little that can quash Teddy's child-like optimism and lively spirit.
  • Additionally, Shiloh Nelson, Tessa Albertson, Ty Parker, Charlie Kilgore and Connor Kalopsis have joined the pilot - all set to play the Burke children.
THE CW's SUPERNATURAL: BLOODLINES
  • Melissa Roxburgh (Arrow, Rita) has landed the female lead in the planted Supernatural spinoff, now titled Supernatural: Bloodlines (formerly Tribes). She will play Violet, a member of the powerful werewolf pack who hides her true nature because of her forbidden love for family rivial David (Nathaniel Bozulic). But when cornered, her inner wolf breaks free.
CBS' SCORPION
  • Robert Patrick (The Unit, From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series) will co-star on the drama pilot from writer Nick Santora. He will play Cabe Gallo, a no non-sense, blue collar Federal Agent who works closely with the group.
