USA's THE QUEEN OF THE SOUTH
  • USA has given a pilot order to drama The Queen of the South, an adaptation of Telemundo's telenovela La Reina del Sur. M.A. Fortin and Joshua John Miller will write the pilot, with David T. Friendly executive producing. FOX Television Studios will produce. The project is a serialized crime drama that centers on Teresa who is forced to go on the run and seek refuge in America, when her drug-dealing boyfriend is unexpectedly murdered in Mexico. She teams with an unlikely figure from her past to bring down the leader of the drug trafficking ring. In the process, she learns the tools of the trade and strategically positions herself to become the new leader of the Cartel.
AMC's WHITE CITY
  • Tim Peper (Selfie) has booked the lead role on the drama pilot from writers Nick McDonell and John Dempsey. Also cast today are Mercedes Mason and Josh Pence. Peper will play Jon Liston, a war junkie who has spent the better part of the last decade in Kabul with a front-row seat to the carnage. Mason will play Lizzie Ghaffari, the new deputy political counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul. Pence will play Tommie Pierson, a reporter with the New York Times and ex-pat living in Kabul who's involved in a romantic relationship with Heloise.
