Casting News - Netflix Orders 10 Episodes of Period Drama 'The Crown'; Rachael Harris Joins 'The Good Wife'; Plus 4 More Updates!

ABC Family's Melissa & Joey; CBS' The Good Wife; FX's The Strain; NBC's Aquarius; Netflix's The Crown; and USA's Dig.





NBC's AQUARIUS
  • James Martinez (Breaking Bad, Low Winter Sun) has booked a recurring role on the upcoming miniseries starring David Duchovny. He will play Ruben Salazar, a former war correspondent and a reporter with the Los Angeles Times who is threatening to expose the true identity of an LAPD detective.
USA's DIG
  • Melinda Page Hamilton (Devious Maids, Mad Men) will appear on the upcoming event series starring Jason Isaacs. She will play Sandra, one of Tad Billingham's (David Costabile) disciples at his compound in Arizona. She has devoted her life to Billingham and his cause, no matter what it might mean for her.
ABC FAMILY's MELISSA & JOEY
  • Greer Grammer (Awkward) has been tapped for a recurring role on the comedy's upcoming fourth season. She will play McKenna, a wannabe actress who is going through a rough period of adjustment and hires Lennox (Taylor Spreitler) to coach her.
FX's THE STRAIN
  • Lizzie Brochere (American Horror Story: Asylum) has joined the cast of the drama's upcoming second season. She will play Coco, Palmer's (Jonathan Hyde) new personal assistant.
NETFLIX's THE CROWN
  • The streaming service has confirmed a 10-episode series commitment to The Crown from writers Peter Morgan (Frost/Nixon) and Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot) and inspired by the play The Audience. Andy Harries, Robert Fox and Matthew Byam Shaw will also executive produce. Sony Pictures Television and Left Bank Pictures will produce. Bowing in 2016, each season of The Crown will explore the political rivalries and personal intrigues across a decade of Queen Elizabeth II's reign, exploring the delicate balance between her private world and public life. Season one begins with a 25-year-old Princess faced with the daunting prospect of leading the most famous monarchy in the world while forging a relationship with the domineering, war-hardened Prime Minister Winston Churchill.
CBS' THE GOOD WIFE
  • Rachael Harris (Surviving Jack, Suits) will appear in the 12th episode of the drama's sixth season. She will play Franny, an aide to the mayor of Chicago who butts heads with Governor Peter Florrick (Chris Noth).
