Casting News - 'True Detective' Gets Summer Premiere Date; 'The Get Down' Casts Its 4 Young Leads; Plus 11 More Updates!

FOX's The Following; FX's American Horror Story: Hotel & Tyrant; HBO's True Detective; NBC's Heroes: Reborn, Law & Order: SVU & Shades of Blue; Netflix's The Get Down; Starz's Flesh and Bone; Syfy's Dark Matter; USA's Graceland; and WGN America's Manhattan & Underground.



NBC's HEROES: REBORN
  • Jimmy Jean-Louis is set to reprise his role as The Haitian in a recurring arc on the upcoming event series. Jean-Louis recurred throughout all four seasons of the original Heroes as The Haitian is often tasked with erasing people's memories.
SYFY's DARK MATTER
  • The upcoming drama will begin its first season on Friday, June 12 at 10/9c. Created by Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie, the new drama stars Marc Bendavid, Melissa O'Neil, Anthony Lemke, Alex Mallari Jr., Jodelle Ferland, Roger Cross and Zoie Palmer.
FOX's THE FOLLOWING
  • The Americans' Annet Mahendru will appear in multiple episodes of the drama's third season. She will play Eliza, a very sexy, dangerous and sophisticated woman who will serve as the face of a larger evil Ryan (Kevin Bacon) will discover.
USA's GRACELAND
  • Peter Stormare (The Blacklist, Arrow) has been tapped for a recurring role on the drama's upcoming third season. He will play Martun Sarkissian, the Head of the Armenian Mafia who runs an international arms business who sells weapons to the highest bidder regardless of ideology or intent. Despite being cool when it comes to business, Martun is known for his simmering rage and violent sense of vengeance.
NBC's SHADES OF BLUE
  • Sarah Jeffrey (Rogue, Wayward Pines) has joined the cast of the upcoming drama starring Jennifer Lopez. She will play Christine, Harlee's (Lopez) daughter, a good girl who is starting to explore her own path.
WGN AMERICA's MANHATTAN
  • Mamie Gummer (The Good Wife, Emily Owens M.D.) has booked a recurring role on the drama's upcoming second season. She will play Nora, a beautiful, street-smart spy who is sent to the Hill as a liaison to Jim Meeks (Christopher Denham) and uses her charm and sexuality to pass atomic secrets to the Soviets.
FX's AMERICAN HORROR STORY: HOTEL
  • Kathy Bates will return to the hit anthology series for her third season on the upcoming Hotel installment. No details about the character she will be playing were made immediately available.
WGN AMERICA's UNDERGROUND
  • Reed Diamond (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Wayward Pines) has been cast in a recurring role on the upcoming drama starring Christopher Meloni. He will play Tom Macon, a plantation owner and political candidate who has trouble believing his own slaves would ever consider running.
FX's TYRANT
  • Jake Weber (Medium, Hell on Wheels) is set for a multi-episode arc on the drama's upcoming second season. He will play Jimmy Timmons, a Pasadena-based attorney who helps Molly (Jennifer Finnigan), Sammy (Noah Silver) and Emma (Anne Winters) in the way of Barry's (Adam Rayner) failed coup.
NBC's LAW & ORDER: SVU
  • Orange Is the New Black star Samira Wiley will appear in the May 6 episode of the veteran procedural. She will play Michelle Thompson, a woman whose father is in prison on incest and rape charges, due to testimony she gave as a child victim. But now, as part of a 12-step program, Michelle is trying to make amends to those she's hurt and that includes admitting that she lied on the stand.
NETFLIX's THE GET DOWN
  • Shameik Moore, Justice Smith, Skylan Brooks and TJ Brown have been cast in the lead roles on the upcoming drama from Baz Luhrmann and Shawn Ryan. Moore will play Shaolin Fantastic, a child of the streets, thrill-seeking, unpredictable, eccentric, but above all, enigmatic. Smith will play Ezekiel, a smart, resourceful teen brimming with untapped talent and unrequited love who is determined to make his mark in the world. Brooks will play Ra-Ra, a loyal, respected, protective friend and brother with his head screwed on tight, he's the voice of reason beyond his years. Brown will play Boo-Boo, a mechanically minded kid who is an irrepressible 40-year-old in a 14-year-old's body.
HBO's TRUE DETECTIVE
  • The second season of the hit anthology series will debut on Sunday, June 21. The cast for the new season includes Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn, Taylor Kitsch, Kelly Reilly and Rachel McAdams.
STARZ's FLESH AND BONE
  • The upcoming limited series created by Moira Walley-Becktt will premiere on Sunday, November 8. The cast for the series includes Sarah Hay, Ben Daniels, Tovah Feldshuh, Josh Helman, Damon Herriman, Sascha Radetsky, Emily Tyra and Tina Benko.
