Development News - 'Casanova' Casts Diego Luna in Title Role; AMC Passes on 'White City' Drama Pilot

AMC's WHITE CITY
  • AMC has passed on the drama pilot written by Nick McDonnell and John Dempsey and directed by Stephen Gaghan. Additional executive producers were Chris Mundy and Tom Freston. The project centers on Jon Liston (Tim Peper), a war junkie who has spent the better part of the last decade in Kabul, who overreaches in an attempt to talk with insurgent leaders against the advice of everyone around him. The cast also included Mercedes Mason, Josh Pence and Ellen Woglom.
AMAZON's CASANOVA
  • Diego Luna, Bojana Novakovic, Miranda Richardson, Ben Daniels and Amelia Clarkson have been cast on the drama pilot written by Stuart Zicherman. Additionally, Jean-Pierre Jeunet has signed on to direct the pilot. Luna will play Casanova, a womanizer and spy for the Parisian government who has just escaped from a prison in Venice to start over in Paris. Novakovic will play Madame de Pompadour, the famous French royal mistress. Richardson, Daniels and Clarkson will play Marquise d'Urfé, Francois-Joachim de Bernis and Manon Balletti, respectively.
