ABC ordered the majority of its new series last night with three new comedies and six new dramas. The network is just about finished with its pick ups. And yet, the network has also just announced that the deals have been worked out between ABC Studios and Universal Television for its comedy pilot Uncle Buck, based on the 1989 movie of the same name, to go to series.
UNCLE BUCK - The new comedy centers on Uncle Buck (Mike Epps), a fun loving but irresponsible guy who needs a job and a place to stay. By happy coincidence, his nieces and nephew's nanny has just quit and his brother and sister-in-law need his help. His unconventional personality just may make him the right fit for the family and they may be the answer to his problems too.
The comedy also stars James Lesure, Nia Long, Iman Benson, Sayeed Shahidi and Aalyrah Caldwell.
Steven Cragg and Brian Bradley wrote the pilot, and executive produce with Will Packer and director Phil Traill. Korin Huggins is a co-executive producer. Universal Television, ABC Studios and Will Packer Productions produce.
