Amazon Lands 'Jack Ryan' TV Adaptation with Straight-to-Series Order

Amazon has given a straight-to-series order to drama Jack Ryan based on Tom Clancy's popular CIA books. The project landed at the online streaming service following a very competitive bidding process.

The series is described as a new take on the Jack Ryan movies that follow the character in his prime as a CIA operative but use the books as a jumping off point.

The drama comes from writer Graham Roland, veteran showrunner Carlton Cuse, Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes, Skydance Media and Paramount Television. This marks the fourth series Cuse will have on the air in the upcoming year - joining A&E's Bates Motel, FX's The Strain and USA's Colony.

Executive producers for the series include Roland, Cuse, Bay, Lindsey Springer, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form as well as movie franchise producer Mace Neufeld.
