ABC's 'Dr. Ken' Is First New Comedy to Get Full Season Order

ABC has officially picked up the back nine episodes for its original comedy series Dr. Ken, making it the first new comedy of the 2015-16 season to get an order for more episodes. The first season will now include 22 episodes.

Through its first three episodes, Dr. Ken is surprisingly averaging 6.6 million viewers and a 1.5 rating in the Adults 18-49 demographic.

The comedy, based loosely on star Ken Jeong's life, also stars Suzy Nakamura, Tisha Campbell-Martin, Jonathan Slavin, Albert Tsai, Krista Marie Yu, Kate Simses and Dave Foley.

Jeong is joined as an executive producer by Mike Sikowitz, Mike O'Connell, Jared Stern, John Davis and John Fox. ABC Studios, Sony Pictures Television and Davis Entertainment produce.

Dr. Ken is the first comedy to get the Back 9 pickup this fall. However, three dramas - NBC's Blindspot, ABC's Quantico and FOX's Rosewood - have also been given additional episode orders.
