ABC Orders 3 More Episodes of 'The Muppets

ABC has ordered three more episodes for the first season of The Muppets - for a total of 16 episodes. The three episode pickup is less than the standard back-nine order - with the network citing the need to accommodate its midseason schedule as the reason why it's less than normal.

Developed by Bill Prady and Bob Kushell, The Muppets explores the personal lives behind the famed characters as Miss Piggy - now broken up with Kermit - hosts her own late-night talk show.

So far, the first season has averaged a 2.6 rating in the Adults 18-49 demographic and 7.6 million viewers in the latest Live+7 figures.

Prady and Kushell executive produce with Kyle Laughlin, Debbie McClellan and director Randall Einhorn. ABC Studios, Bill Prady Productions and The Muppets Studio produce.

The comedy stars Steve Whitmire, Eric Jacobson, Dave Goelz, Bill Barretta, David Rudman, Matt Vogel and Peter Linz.
