HBO Cancels 'The Brink' - Despite Previously Renewing It

HBO has reversed course with its original comedy series The Brink starring Jack Black and Tim Robbins. The comedy was renewed for a second season back in July 2015. But now, the network has decided to reverse that order and end the series before production on the second season began. No reason was given as to why the network changed its mind.

However, HBO released the followed the statement: "After evaluating our schedule and our programming needs, we unfortunately decided we cannot give The Brink the attention it deserves for a second season. We are proud of the first season and wish everyone involved in this show the very best.

Created by Roberto Benabib and Kim Benabib, The Brink followed three men - U.S. Secretary of State Walter Larson (Robbins); Alex Talbot (Black), a lowly Foreign Service officer; and Zeke Tilson (Pablo Schreiber), an ace Navy pilot - as they struggle to prevent World War II.

The cast also featured Aasif Mandvi, Maribeth Monroe, Eric Ladin, Geoff Pierson and Esai Morales, with guest stars Mimi Kennedy, Jaimie Alexander, Carla Gugino, John Larroquette and Igbal Theba.

The Benabibs served as executive producers with Jerry Weintraub and Jay Roach. The series wrapped its 10-episode run on August 23, 2015.
