Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel created the series. They executive produce with Lowe, Ben Wexler, Scott Silveri, Jake Kasdan, Melvin Mar and Nicholas Stoller. 20th Century Fox Television produces.
The order comes after a considerably soft run in the Live+Same Day ratings. However, the series has done better in Live+7 figures where it is currently average a 1.7 rating in the Adults 18-49 demographic and 4.96 million total viewers.
"The Grinder is the perfect combination of razor-sharp wit and relatable family dynamics - two hallmarks of successful comedies," said David Madden, Fox Broadcasting Company entertainment president. "The critics have embraced this original, fresh and funny show, and the talented cast - led by Rob Lowe and Fred Savage - have done such an incredible job infusing it with biting humor and heartfelt moments. We are so excited about the storylines that these fantastic producers have planned for the rest of the season."
