Casting News - Starz Sets April Return Date for 'Outlander'; Lauren Cohan to Appear in 'The Mindy Project'; Plus 7 More Updates!

A&E, History & Lifetime's Roots; CBS' Scorpion; The CW's Beauty and the Beast, Containment & Reign; History's Six; Hulu's The Mindy Project; NBC's Good Place; Netflix's The OA; Showtime's Dice; and Starz's Outlander.




HULU's THE MINDY PROJECT
  • The Walking Dead star Lauren Cohan will appear in at least two episodes of the comedy's fourth season. She will play a cool, stylish woman who Morgan (Ike Barinholtz) and Jody (Garret Dillahunt) fight over.
STARZ's OUTLANDER
  • The second season of the hit drama series starring Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan will premiere on Saturday, April 9 at 9/8c. Based on author Diana Gabaldon's best-selling book Dragonfly in Amber, the second season will include 13 episodes.
HISTORY's SIX
  • Kyle Schmid (Copper, Being Human) has been cast in a lead role on the upcoming drama written by William and David Broyles. He will play Alex Caulder, a witty, efficient and philosophical soldier, a veteran Navy Seal and one of the key members of Seal Team Six. He has no problem putting personal or family matters aside to focus on a mission - even if this means destroying relationships in the process. He's loyal to his brothers and nothing more.
NETFLIX's THE OA
  • Scott Wilson (The Walking Dead, Bosch) has joined the cast of the upcoming drama from Zal Batmanglij and Brit Marling. He will play Abel Johnson, the adoptive father of Prairie Johsnon (Marling).
SHOWTIME's DICE
  • The new comedy starring Andrew Dice Clay will premiere on Sunday, April 10 at 9:30/8:30c. following the Season 5 premiere of House of Lies. Guest stars for the first season include Kevin Corrigan, Natasha Leggero, Lorraine Bracco, Adrien Brody, Michael Rapaport, Wayne Newton, Criss Angel and Rita Rudner.
A&E, HISTORY and LIFETIME's ROOTS
  • The revival of the classic miniseries will premiere on Memorial Day, Monday, May 30, and be simulcast over four consecutive nights on A&E, History and Lifetime. The cast includes Forest Whitaker, Anna Paquin, Laurence Fishburne, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Anika Noni Rose, Tip "T.I." Harris, Emayatzy Corinealdi, Matthew Goode, Mekhi Phifer, James Purefoy, Regé-Jean Page and Malachi Kirby.
CBS' SCORPION
  • Scott Porter (Friday Night Lights) and Horatio Sanz (Saturday Night Live) will recur on the drama's second season. Porter will play Tim Armstrong, a former prom, football captain and Navy SEAL who was injured in action. He becomes Cabe's (Robert Patrick) new trainee and Walter's (Elyes Gabel) unsure how to deal with this handsome addition to Team Scorpion. Sanz will play Heywood Morris, an underdog attorney with a kind heart.
THE CW's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, CONTAINMENT and REIGN
  • The CW has announced some key premiere dates for the end of the broadcast season. New drama Containment from Julie Plec will debut on Tuesday, April 19 at 9/8c. taking over the time slot from iZombie (which wraps its second season with back-to-back episodes on April 12). Reign will continue its third season on Monday, April 25 at 8/7c. replacing Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (which finishes its first season on April 18). And lastly, Beauty and the Beast will begin its fourth and final season on Thursday, June 2 at 9/8c. 
NBC's GOOD PLACE
  • William Jackson Harper (All the Way) will co-star opposite Kristen Bell and Ted Danson on the upcoming comedy series. He will play Chris, a kind an extremely intelligent guy who always sees the good in people.
