Casting News - Tony Shalhoub Joins 'BrainDead'; Jason Patric to Star in Season 2 of 'Wayward Pines'; Plus 6 More Updates!

ABC's Modern Family & Scandal; AMC's Fear the Walking Dead; CBS' BrainDead; FOX's The Grinder & Wayward Pines; Freeform's Dead of Summer; and Netflix's Gilmore Girls.

  • Emmy winner Tony Shalhoub (Monk, Nurse Jackie) will co-star on the upcoming series starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Aaron Tveit and Danny Pino. He will play Red Wheatus, a hard-drinking, fun-loving Republican senator who has spent decades in Washington making deals, until a radical transformation turns him into a health-conscious extremist who would rather destroy the government than compromise.
  • Desperate Housewives alum Ricardo Chavira has landed a recurring role on the drama's fifth season. No details were immediately released about the character he will be playing.
  • Jason Patric (The Lost Boys, Sleepers) has been tapped to play the lead role in the drama's upcoming second season. He will play Dr. Theo Yedlin, a confident and driven surgeon whose leadership skills will prove invaluable to the residents of Wayward Pines. Awakened from suspended animation, Yedlin finds himself in the middle of this rebellion, as he tries to understand what Wayward Pines really is and help preserve the endangered human race.
  • Jenna Fischer (The Office) and Chris Klein (Wilfred) will appear in upcoming episode of the comedy's first season. Fischer will play Kelly, Dean's (Rob Lowe) former fiancé from before his breakthrough role on The Grinder. She was not supportive of his pursuit of acting and urged him to go to work for her father. Klein will play Benji, Dean's acting friend who wanted to audition for The Grinder but thought that Dean would be more right for the part.
  • The Good Wife star Matt Czuchry has just closed a deal to reprise his role as Logan Huntzberger, Rory's (Alexis Bledel) boyfriend in Seasons 5-7 of the original series, on the upcoming Netflix revival. No details were immediately released as to how and why he returns.
  • Zelda Williams (Teen Wolf), Alberto Frezza (Touch) and Eli Goree (The 100) have joined the cast of the upcoming drama series. Williams will play a counselor at Camp Clearwater who is a mysterious lone with no interest in bonding with the rest of the group. Frezza will play Deput Garett Sykes, a young deputy with ties to Camp Clearwater and who quickly grows suspicious when events at the camp don't quite add up. Goree will play Joel, an aspiring filmmaker who returns to Camp Clearwater as a counselor and begins to buy into the idea that something weird is happening.
  • Dougray Scott (Hemlock Grove) has booked a recurring role on the drama's upcoming second season. No details were immediately released about the character he will be playing.
  • Emmy nominee Adam Arkin (Chicago Hope, Justified) will guest star in an upcoming episode of the comedy's seventh season. He will play a dentist for the Los Angeles Kings who becomes close friends with Jay (Ed O'Neill).
