NBC Gives Series Order to 'Blacklist' Spinoff, 'The Blacklist: Redemption'

NBC is continuing to order new series for the 2016-17 season today by giving a series order to Blacklist spinoff, now officially titled The Blacklist: Redemption. The order marks the sixth new drama series on the network's schedule next season.

THE BLACKLIST: REDEMPTION - Undercover operative Tom Keen (Ryan Eggold) joins forces with Susan "Scottie" Hargrave (Famke Janssen, How to Get Away With Murder), the brilliant and cunning chief of Grey Matters, a covert mercenary organization that solves problems governments don't dare touch. While on the hunt for Liz's attacker, Tom secretly discovered that Scottie is actually his biological mother. Now, as they team to employ their unique skills and resources in a dangerous world of deadly criminals, Tom begins his own covert mission to find out more about his shadowy past.

Edi Gathegi and Tawny Cypress co-star on the drama.

The new series was introduced as a backdoor pilot in The Blacklist's May 12 episode. The hour averaged a 1.3 rating in the key Adults 18-49 demographic and 6.616 million total viewers in overnight ratings.

Jon Bokenkamp and John Eisendrath wrote the backdoor pilot, which was directed by Michael Dinner. They executive produce with John Davis and John Fox. Sony Pictures Television and Davis Entertainment produce.
