Casting News - July 28, 2016

Amazon's The Man in the High Castle; CBS' MacGyver; The CW's The Originals; FOX's New Girl & Scream Queens; IFC's Documentary Now!; NBC's Grimm; and Netflix's Disjointed & Flaked.

NBC's GRIMM
  • Chris McKenna (State of Affairs, The Young and the Restless) has been cast in a recurring role on the drama's upcoming sixth season. He will play Lt. Grossante, a formidable, driven and military-type cop.
IFC's DOCUMENTARY NOW!
  • The sketch series will return for its 7-episode second season on Wednesday, September 14 at 10/9c. Documentaries being spoofed this year include The War Room, Jiro Dreams of Sushi and Salesman. The cast once again features Bill Hader, Fred Armisen and Helen Mirren.
NETFLIX's FLAKED
  • The comedy series was mysteriously absent from the list of renewals on Netflix's big press release from yesterday's panel at the Television Critics Association's summer press tour. That made many people speculate on whether it would become the first one-and-done series for the streaming service. However, that will not be the case. Today, the show's official Twitter and Facebook pages have announced that the series will return for a second season in 2017. An exact episode order wasn't announcement - but past negotiations suggest a reduced order of six episodes. The comedy stars Will Arnett, Ruth Kearney, David Sullivan, George Basil and Lina Esco.
FOX's SCREAM QUEENS
  • Jerry O'Connell (Mistresses) and Laura Bell Bundy (Anger Management) have landed recurring roles on the horror comedy's upcoming second season. No details were immediately released about the characters they will be playing.
AMAZON's THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE
  • Tate Donovan (Damages, 24: Live Another Day) has booked a recurring role on the drama's upcoming second season. He will play George Dixon, a mysterious figure from Juliana's (Alexa Davalos) past.
FOX's NEW GIRL
  • After recurring in the fifth season to accommodate Zooey Deschanel's pregnancy, Megan Fox has signed a deal to return to the comedy's upcoming sixth season for multiple episodes. Sources are saying the arc could be up to at least eight episodes. In the fifth season finale, Nick (Jake Johnson) left the loft to spend three months in New York City with Reagan (Fox) as she adjusts to her new job. Nick will return at the start of the season but Reagan won't appear again until midseason - due to Fox's own pregnancy.
CBS' MACGYVER
  • Amy Acker (Person of Interest, Angel) will guest star in an early episode of the upcoming drama starring Lucas Till. She will play a CIA operative working undercover in Caracas gathering intelligence on an international arms dealer. When she is kidnapped, MacGyver (Till) and Jack Dalton (George Eads) are tasked with bringing her home.
THE CW's THE ORIGINALS
  • Summer Fontana (Basic Witches) has been tapped to play the adult version of Hope, Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Hayley's (Phoebe Tonkin) daughter, on the drama's upcoming fourth season. The casting comes as the show plans a five year time jump between Seasons 3 and 4.
NETFLIX's DISJOINTED
  • Dougie Baldwin (Nowhere Boys, Upper Middle Bogan) has been cast as a series regular on the upcoming comedy starring Kathy Bates. He will play Pete, a budtender at Ruth's (Bates) dispensary whose passion is growing and developing pot strains. He admires Ruth and looks to her for inspiration.
