Lifetime Cancels 'Devious Maids' After 4 Seasons

Lifetime has decided not to order any additional episodes of its veteran series Devious Maids. The comedic soap wrapped its 4-season run on the cable network on Monday, August 8.

In its fourth season, the comedy starred Ana Ortiz, Dania Ramirez, Roselyn Sánchez, Judy Reyes, Rebecca Wisocky, Tom Irwin, Grant Show, Nathan Owens, Sol Rodriguez and Susan Lucci.

Marc Cherry created the series based on the telenovela format Ellas Son... La Alegria del Hogar. He served as executive producer with Eva Longoria, Brian Tanen, Sabrina Wind, David Lonner, John Mass, Larry Shuman, Michael Garcia, Paul McGuigan, Paul Presburger and Curtis Kheel. ABC Studios and Cherry/Wind Productions produced.

The fourth season averaged 923,000 total viewers across its ten-episode run. That was its lowest total audience number across its entire run. It was still twice the viewership of Lifetime's other scripted series UnREAL.

With Devious Maids' cancellation today, UnREAL is the only ongoing scripted series currently in production at Lifetime. The network is one of many currently undergoing a creative rebrand. The network has two pilots in contention for a series pickup - the supernatural Sea Change and anthology A Midsummer's Nightmare
