Casting News - Sigourney Weaver to Play Villain on 'The Defenders'; Carlos Bernard to Appear on '24: Legacy'; Plus 1 More Update!

FOX's 24: Legacy; Freeform's Shadowhunters; and Netflix's The Defenders.






FREEFORM's SHADOWHUNTERS
  • The hit drama will return for its 20-episode second season on Monday, January 2 at 8/7c. - leading into the series premiere of new drama Beyond. The new season stars Katherine McNamara, Dominic Sherwood, Alberto Rosende, Matthew Daddario, Emeraude Toubia, Isaiah Mustafa and Harry Shum Jr.
FOX's 24: LEGACY
  • 24 alum Carlos Bernard is set to reprise his role as Tony Almeida on a recurring basis on the upcoming sequel series. Tony was an agent at CTU and ally to Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) for the first five seasons of the hit drama. In Season 5, the character was killed off. But then in Season 7, he was revived and turned into a villain culminating in his arrest in the finale. So far, he is the only actor from the original series to join the new drama.
NETFLIX's THE DEFENDERS
  • Oscar nominee Sigourney Weaver (Aliens, Gorillas in the Mist) has signed on to play the villain on the upcoming miniseries. The casting news was revealed today at New York Comic-Con. She'll be playing a "significant but unspecified" character. In the series, she'll face off with Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones).
