Development News - Alex Roe & Fola Evans-Akingbola Join 'The Deep'; Jim Belushi to Co-Star on 'Mating'; Plus 2 More Updates!

Amazon's The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel; Freeform's The Deep; HBO's Succession; and Showtime's Mating.

  • Alex Roe (The 5th Wave) and Fola Evans-Akingbola (Death in Paradise) will round out the main cast of the drama pilot written by Eric Wald and Dean White. Roe will play Ben, a bright marine biologist who finds himself drawn to the mysterious new girl in town, Ryn (Eline Powell). Evans-Akingbola will play Maddie, also a marine biologist who works with Ben and is highly suspicious of Ryn.
  • Jim Belushi (According to Jim, Show Me a Hero) will co-star on the comedy pilot starring Taran Killam. He will play Paul, Jay's (Killam) father and business partner.
  • Marin Hinkle (Two and a Half Men, Speechless) has been cast on the drama pilot starring Rachel Brosnahan. She will play Rose Weissman, Abe's (Tony Shalhoub) wife and Midge's (Brosnahan) mother. Lovely, elegant and dramatic, Rose is very much about appearances. She firmly believes everything's easier if you're pretty.
  • Brian Cox, Jeremy Strong, Kieran Culkin, Sarah Snook, Nicholas Braun and Matthew Macfayden will star in the drama pilot written by Jesse Armstrong. Cox will play Logan, the tough, powerful and aging patriarch of the Roy family and head of a family-controlled international media conglomerate. Strong will play Kendall, the eldest son from Logan's second marriage, currently a division president at the family firm and the heir apparent. Culkin will play Roman, Logan's outspoken, fun-loving son who is still on the board of directors at the firm but no longer works there. Snook will play Shiv, Logan's only daughter who sits on the board of directors and has been pursuing a career in politics. Braun will play Greg, Logan's less than competent nephew and a management trainee at one of the firm's theme parks. Macfadyen will play Tom, Shiv's ambitious partner/fiancé and a senior executive at the firm.
