Amazon Sets Premiere Dates for 'I Love Dick' and 'Patriot'

Amazon has set premiere dates for two upcoming series I Love Dick and Patriot, it was announced today. The first seasons for both shows will include 10 episodes.

New half-hour series I Love Dick based on the novel by Chris Kraus will debut on the streaming service on Friday, May 12. The series will also have its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on Monday, January 23.

The bold new series focuses on Chris (Kathryn Hahn), a frustrated New York filmmaker who finds herself marooned in Marfa, Texas where her academic husband, Sylvere (Griffin Dunne), has a writing residency. Amid the dusty silence, art snobs and tumbleweeds, she meets renowned scholar Dick (Kevin Bacon). An infuriating and beguiling exchange with this enigmatic, macho character unleashes in her a dramatic awakening.

Sarah Gubbins created the series. She serves as executive producer with Jill Soloway (who directed the pilot), Andrea Sperling and Victor Hsu. Amazon Studios produces.

New drama series Patriot will debut on the streamer on Friday, February 24. The series will also have its world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival on Tuesday, February 14.

The drama follows the complicated life of intelligence officer John Tavner (Michael Dorman). His latest assignment is to prevent Iran from going nuclear, requiring him to forgo all safety nets and assume a perilous "non-official cover" - that of a mid-level employee at a Midwestern industrial piping firm. A bout with PTSD, the Federal government's incompetence and the intricacies of keeping a day job in the "front" industrial piping company cause a barrage of ever-escalating fiascos that jeopardize Tavner's mission.

The cast also includes Terry O'Quinn, Kurtwood Smith, Michael Chernus, Kathleen Munroe, Aliette Opheim and Chris Conrad.

Steven Conrad created the series and directed the first episode. He executive produces with James Parriott, Glenn Ficarra, John Requa, Charles Gogolak and Gil Bellows. Amazon Studios produces.
