HBO Sets Premiere Date for New Drama 'The Deuce' Starring James Franco and Maggie Gyllenhaal

HBO has today announced a premiere date for the first season of new original drama series The Deuce starring James Franco and Maggie Gyllenhaal.






The 8-episode first season of the period drama will debut on Sunday, September 10 at 9/8c.

The drama follows the story of the legalization and subsequent rise of the porn industry in New York's Times Square from the early 1970s through the mid-1980s, exploring the rough-and-tumble world at the pioneering moments of what would become the billion-dollar American sex industry.

In addition to Franco and Gyllenhaal, the cast also includes Gbenga Akinnagbe, Chris Bauer, Gary Carr, Chris Coy, Dominique Fishback, Lawrence Gilliard Jr., Anwan Glover, Margarita Levieva, Emily Meade, Natalie Paul and Michael Rispoli.

David Simon and George Pelecanos created the drama. They executive produce with Franco, Michelle MacLaren, Richard Price and Nina K. Noble.
