Emmy Predictions 2017: Who Will Likely Get Nominated for Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or TV Movie?

From June 12 to June 26, voting is taking place for The 69th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. To add to the excitement of the past year in television, I'm providing analysis on which shows and performers are likely to get nominated this year. Next up is Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or TV Movie.

2016 Nominees:
Kathy Bates for FX's American Horror Story: Hotel
Olivia Colman for AMC's The Night Manager
Regina King for ABC's American Crime (WINNER)
Melissa Leo for HBO's All the Way
Sarah Paulson for FX's American Horror Story: Hotel
        Jean Smart for FX's Fargo

Regina King has won in this category for the past two years. Despite this being the final season of American Crime, she's likely to get nominated again and may even win again. The rest of the nominations could be totally surprising. The voters could nominate multiple women from Big Little Lies or Feud or American Horror Story: Roanoke. Those shows have the critical acclaim and the name recognition amongst the actresses. Or the voters could spread the wealth around a bit more to ensure that more shows get nominated in this category. So perhaps, there could be more surprises this year. That's exciting because there isn't a clear frontrunner in this race yet.

So now, here's my thoughts on the performers must likely to be nominated for Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or TV Movie:
  1. Regina King for ABC's American Crime
  2. Judy Davis for FX's Feud: Bette and Joan
  3. Laura Dern for HBO's Big Little Lies
  4. Michelle Pfeiffer for HBO's The Wizard of Lies
  5. Mary Elizabeth Winstead for FX's Fargo

And now, for some serious threats that could break into the list:
  1. Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Adina Porter and Lily Rabe for FX's American Horror Story: Roanoke
  2. Shailene Woodley and Zoë Kravitz for HBO's Big Little Lies
  3. Lili Taylor, Ana Mulvoy-Ten, Sandra Oh, Mickaëlle X. Bizet and Janel Moloney for ABC's American Crime
  4. Diane Keaton for HBO's The Young Pope
  5. Jeannie Berlin, Amara Karan and Sofia Black-D'Elia for HBO's The Night Of
  6. Jackie Hoffman, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Alison Wright and Kiernan Shipka for FX's Feud: Bette and Joan
  7. Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Mackenzie Davis for Netflix's Black Mirror: San Junipero

  9. Ellen Burstyn and Viola Davis for Lifetime's Custody

  9. Helen Hunt, Aisha Hinds, Jill Hennessy and DeWanda Wise for FOX's Shots Fired
  10. Rachel Griffiths, Whoopi Goldberg, Phylicia Rashad, Carrie Preston, Ivory Aquino and Rosie O'Donnell for ABC's When We Rise
And now, just some colorful oddities who still have an outside chance:
