Netflix Renews 'Anne With an E' for Season 2

Netflix and CBC have renewed their original drama series Anne With an E for a second season, it was announced today. The new season will produce 10 episodes - up from the 8 of the first season. Season 2 will debut in 2018.

Inspired by the Canadian young adult novel Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery, the second season will continue to chart bold new territory, adding new characters and storylines and continuing to explore themes of identity, prejudice, feminism, bully, gender parity and empowerment through the lens of its fierce, starry-eyed, irrepressible 14-year-old protagonist.

The drama stars Amybeth McNulty, Geraldine James, R.H. Thomson, Corrine Koslo, Dalila Bela, Aymeric Jett Montaz and Lucas Jade Zumann.

Moira Walley-Beckett created the drama. She executive produces with Miranda de Pencier, Sally Catto, Elizabeth Bradley, Alex Sapot, Debra Hayward and Alison Owen. Northwood Entertainment produces.
