FOX Orders 5 More Episodes of 'Star'

FOX has ordered five additional episodes for the second season of its original drama series Star. The order brings the season total to 18 episodes - the same as Lee Daniels' other FOX drama Empire.

The news comes two weeks into the drama's second season, where it is airing on Wednesday nights alongside Empire. According to FOX, the second season premiere has been seen by 7.5 million total viewers when factoring in seven days of delayed viewing.

The drama stars Jude Demorest, Brittany O'Grady, Ryan Destiny, Amiyah Scott, Quincy Brown, Miss Lawrence, Luke James, Michael Michele, Benjamin Bratt and Queen Latifah.

Lee Daniels and Tom Donaghy created the drama. Daniels executive produces with Karin Gist, Pamela Oas Williams, Effie Brown and Jason Richman. 20th Century Fox Television and Lee Daniels Entertainment produce. Gist is the new showrunner for the second season. She replaced season one showrunner Chuck Pratt, who in turn replaced original showrunner Charles Murray.
