Following a multiple-outlet bidding war, Apple has landed an untitled original drama series starring Jennifer Aniston (Friends) and Reese Witherspoon (Big Little Lies). The straight-to-series order is for two seasons with each consisting of 10 episodes.
The drama is an inside look at the lives of the people who help America wake up in the morning with the news, exploring the unique challenges faced by the women (and men) who carry out this daily televised ritual. Brian Stelter's book Top of the Morning: Inside the Cutthroat World of Morning TV will serve as background information for the series.
Jay Carson created the series and will serve as showrunner. He executive produces with Aniston, Witherspoon and Michael Ellenberg. Media Res, Echo Films and Hello Sunshine produce.
