Starz Sets Premiere Date for Drama 'Counterpart' Starring J.K. Simmons

Starz has today set a premiere date for its upcoming original drama series Counterpart starring Oscar winner J.K. Simmons.

The 10-episode first season of the drama will begin on Sunday, January 21 at 8/7c. Starz has already renewed the series for a second season.

The series centers on Howard Silk, a lowly cog in a bureaucratic UN agency who is turning the last corner of a life filled with regret, when he discovers the agency he works for is guarding a secret: a crossing to a parallel dimension. Through Howard and his "Counterpart" on the other side, Prime, the show will navigate themes of identity, idealism, what ifs and lost love.

In addition to Simmons, the cast also includes Olivia Williams, Harry Lloyd, Nazanin Boniadi, Nicholas Pinnock, Sara Serraiocco, Mido Hamada, Kenneth Choi and Ulrich Thomsen.

Justin Marks created the drama. He executive produces with Bard Dorros, Keith Redmon, Jordan Horowitz, Gary Gilbert and director Morten Tyldum. Simmons is a producer. Media Rights Capital, Anonymous Content and Gilbert Films produce.
