Netflix Sets Premiere Date for New Drama 'Altered Carbon' Starring Joel Kinnaman

Netflix has today announced the premiere date for its new original drama series Altered Carbon starring Joel Kinnaman (The Killing, House of Cards).







The 10-episode first season will drop on the streaming service on Friday, February 2.

Set in the 25th century, the drama explores what happens when the human mind becomes digitized and the soul is transferable from one body to another. Takeshi Kovacs is an ex-elite interstellar warrior known as Envoy who has been imprisoned for 500 years and is downloaded into a future he had tried to stop. If Envoy can solve a single murder in a world where technology has made death nearly obsolete, he will get a chance at a new life on Earth.

The drama stars Joel Kinnaman, James Purefoy, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Martha Higareda, Dichen Lachman, Leonardo Nam, Chris Conner, Ato Essandoh, Trieu Tran and Marlene Forte.

Laeta Kalogridis developed the drama based on the novel of the same name by Richard K. Morgan. She executive produces with David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Marcy Ross, Brad Fischer, James Vanderbilt and director Miguel Sapochnik. Skydance Television and Mythology Entertainment produce.
