Casting News - Meryl Streep to Star in HBO's 'Big Little Lies'; John Malkovich to Appear on 'Billions'; Plus 3 More Updates!

The CW's The Originals; HBO's Big Little Lies & Succession; Showtime's Billions; and Syfy's Krypton.





SHOWTIME's BILLIONS
  • Oscar nominee and Emmy winner John Malkovich has booked a guest arc on the drama's upcoming third season. His casting reunites him with series creators Brian Koppelman and David Levin after appearing in their first two features, Rounders and Knockaround Guys. He receive Academy Award nominations for his roles in Places in the Heart and In the Line of Fire.
  • He will play Russian billionaire Grigor Andolov. 
SYFY's KRYPTON
  • Hannah Waddingham has landed a recurring role on the upcoming drama starring Cameron Cuffe. She has recently had recurring roles on HBO's Game of Thrones and Syfy's 12 Monkeys.
  • She will play Jax-Ur, formerly one of Krypton's greatest scientists with deep ties to Krypton's past, who is now determined to bring radical change to the planet as leader of the underground terrorist organization, Black Zero.
THE CW's THE ORIGINALS
  • Nadine Lewington has joined the drama's upcoming fifth and final season in a recurring role. Her casting reunites her with series creator Julie Plec after her role on the one-season CW drama Containment.
  • She will play Greta Sienna, a calculating and charismatic vampire who cut her fangs in Europe in the 1920s and 30s. Now living in New Orleans, she has adapted nicely to her modern community though she remains a woman of deep principles and harbors an almost zealous devotion to her family.
HBO's BIG LITTLE LIES
  • Oscar and Emmy winner Meryl Streep will star in the upcoming second second of the hit drama starring Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman. Her casting comes on the heels of her 21st Academy Award nomination for The Post. She has won for Sophie's Choice, Kramer vs. Kramer and The Iron Lady. She also won an Emmy for the HBO miniseries Angels in America.
  • She will play Mary Louise Wright, the mother to the abusive Perry Wright (Alexander Skarsgård). She is a woman concerned for the well-being of her grandchildren following her son's tragic death. She arrives in Monterey searching for answers. Furthermore, it's being rumored that Skarsgård will return in his Emmy-winning role in some capacity for the new season.
HBO's SUCCESSION
  • Ashley Zukerman is set for a recurring role on the upcoming drama starring Brian Cox. He starred for two seasons on WGN America's Manhattan and recurred on ABC's Designated Survivor.
  • He will play Nate, a well-connected, left-leaning political consultant. He is a friend of the powerful Roy family and an ex-flame of Siobhan (Sarah Snook), but a flame that threatens to reignite.
