Casting News - January 5, 2018

Amazon's Ordeal by Innocence; CBS All Access' Strange Angel; FX's Legion; Netflix's The Crown, GLOW & Untitled Sabrina Drama; and Starz's Outlander.

NETFLIX's THE CROWN
  • Helena Bonham Carter is finalizing a deal to join the drama for its upcoming third and fourth seasons. The film star's credits include Sweeney Todd, Alice in Wonderland and next year's Ocean's 8.
  • She will succeed Vanessa Kirby in the role of Princess Margaret. Kirby played the role for the first two seasons. Like with some of the other key characters, the roles are being recast to cover later years in the royal family's lives. The second season ended with Margaret marrying Antony Armstrong-Jones, the Earl of Snowdon (Matthew Goode) and becoming pregnant.
STARZ's OUTLANDER
  • Colin McFarlane has booked a recurring role on the drama's upcoming fourth season. His past television credits include Torchwood and Chuggington.
  • He will play Ulysses, the butler of the River Run plantation in North Carolina. He is a well-educated and musically inclined man who was sold into slavery when he was young. He was acquired by Hector Cameron and became the trusted servant of Jocasta (Maria Doyle Kennedy).
AMAZON's ORDEAL BY INNOCENCE
  • Amazon and BBC One have announced today that the miniseries will be undergoing reshoots in order to remove Ed Westwick from the series. He will be replaced by Christian Cooke. The drama first completed production in September 2017. However, it was removed from the schedule temporarily after three women came forward to accuse Westwick of sexual assault.
  • Cooke will play Mickey Argyll. The drama sees old wounds reopened for the Argyll family when a man suddenly turns up and claims that the black sheep of the family, Jack Argyll, could not have murdered its tyrannical matriarch - a crime of which he was accused just one year earlier. The family must come to terms with Jack's innocence and the fact that one of them may be the real murderer.
NETFLIX's GLOW
  • Annabella Sciorra has landed a recurring role on the comedy's upcoming second season. She was previously nominated for an Emmy for her work on The Sopranos.
  • She will play Rosalie Biagi, Justine's (Britt Baron) mother.
FX's LEGION
  • Navid Negahban has been tapped to replace Saïd Taghmaoui as Amahl Farouk aka The Shadow King in the drama's upcoming second season. Taghmaoui was cast on the show during the summer but left due to creative differences over the direction of the character in December. Negahban is most recognized for his work in the first two seasons of Homeland.
  • The Shadow King is the monster who has plagued David Haller's (Dan Stevens) mind since a young age. The character was played in the first season by Aubrey Plaza, under the guise of David's friend Lenny, and Quinton Boisclair, as the monster who haunted David. Both versions of the character will continue to appear in the new season as well.
CBS ALL ACCESS' STRANGE ANGEL
  • Jack Reynor will star in the upcoming drama created by Mark Heyman based on the book by George Pendle. Reynor is known for his starring roles in features Sing Street and Transformers: Age of Extinction
  • He will play Jack Parsons, a brilliant and ambitious blue-collar worker of 1930s Los Angeles who started as a janitor at a chemical factory but had fantastical dreams that led him to birth the unknown discipline of American rocketry. Along the way, he fell into a mysterious world that included sex magic rituals at night, and he became a disciple of occultist Aleister Crowley. Parsons used Crowley's teachings of self-actualization to support his unimaginable and unprecedented endeavor to the stars.
NETFLIX's UNTITLED SABRINA DRAMA
  • Kiernan Shipka will play the lead role on the upcoming drama update on Sabrina the Teenage Witch. She is best known for her seven season role on Mad Men. Her other credits include Feud: Bette and Joan and The Legend of Korra.
  • She will play Sabrina Spellman, an empowered young woman, half-human, half-witch who is just beginning her dark education as a sorceress, even as she tries to maintain a normal life as a sophomore at Baxter High. Intelligent, compassionate and brave to the point of recklessness, Sabrina is all that stands between us and the forces of darkness that threaten our world.
