Casting News - Alyssa Diaz to Co-Star on 'The Rookie'; Xosha Roquemore Books Recurring Role on 'I'm Dying Up Here'

Casting News - February 23, 2018

ABC's The Rookie and Showtime's I'm Dying Up Here.

ABC's THE ROOKIE
  • Alyssa Diaz will co-star on the upcoming drama starring Nathan Fillion. She starred for two seasons in Lifetime's Army Wives and two seasons in CBS' Zoo. She also had a major recurring role on Showtime's Ray Donovan.
  • She will play Angela, an LAPD training officer on the cusp of making detective-trainee. That all gets threatened when she gets assigned to Jackson West (Titus Makin). Not only does she have to play the usual politics within her own station house, she now has her hands full with an entitled rookie whose father has a say in her career at the LAPD.
SHOWTIME's I'M DYING UP HERE
  • Xosha Roquemore has booked a major recurring role on the drama's upcoming second season. She starred for five seasons in the FOX/Hulu comedy The Mindy Project.
  • She will play Dawn Lima, an in-your-face, sexy and fearless comedian who will talk about anything except who she really is. She recently arrived in Los Angeles to try standup at Goldie's after performing in Detroit and Chicago. Daughter of a preacher, she feels judged not only by her father but by the world at large. A "friend with benefits" of Nick's (Jake Lacy), she is struggling with her sexual identity not just professionally but also personally.
