Development News - Brandon Michael Hall to Star in 'God Friended Me'; Teyonah Parris Boards 'Murder'; Plus 1 More Update!

Development News - February 5, 2018

CBS' God Friended Me & Murder; and TruTV's Tacoma FD.

  • Brandon Michael Hall has been cast in the lead role on the drama pilot written by Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt. He starred in ABC's The Mayor, which was well-reviewed but pulled from the schedule after airing only 9 of its 13 episodes. His casting is in first position to The Mayor, which makes it seem incredibly unlikely the comedy will return on any outlet.
  • He will play Miles, an outspoken atheist whose life is turned upside down when he is "friended" by God on Facebook. Unwittingly, he becomes an agent of change in the lives and destines of others around him.
  • Kirby Bliss-Blanton, Marcus Henderson, Eugene Cordero and Gabriel Hogan will co-star on the comedy pilot written by and starring Kevin Heffernan and Steve Lemme.
  • Bliss-Blanton (Project X) will play Lucy O'Malley, a rookie firefighter and the first female ever assigned to her father's station. In addition to battling fires, she's also constantly battling gender roles and is intent on proving she belongs in this world.
  • Henderson (Get Out) will play Granville "Granny" Smith, an accomplished paramedic and firefighter. He served as a medic in Afghanistan and has seen it all.
  • Cordero (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) will play Andy Parrish, a good firefighter who's dealing with some personal issues - namely the fact that he is going prematurely bald.
  • Hogan (Condor) will play Ike Crystal, a hulking and handsome firefighter but not exactly the smartest guy in the room. He also moonlights as an exotic dancer.
  • Teyonah Parris has booked the female lead on the drama pilot written by Amanda Green. She starred for four seasons on Starz's Survivor's Remorse and has recurred on AMC's Mad Men and FOX's Empire.
  • She will play Ayana Lake, a rising star in the NYPD whose keen intellect and quick, analytic mind are the keys to her success. But when she's partnered with an instinctive, intuitive detective, their styles and personalities will sometimes clash.
