Hulu has today given a series order to the original comedy PEN15 created by and starring Maya Erskine and Anna Konkle. Production on the 10-episode season will begin this summer.
The comedy is set in middle school as it really happened. Erskine and Konkle will play versions of themselves as 13-year-old outcasts in the year 2000 and surrounded by actual 13-year-olds, where the best day of your life can turn into your worst with the stroke of a gel pen.
Erskine and Konkle wrote the series with Sam Zvibleman, who will also direct multiple episodes. The trio executive produce with Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, Jorma Taccone, Becky Sloviter, Marc Provissiero, Brooke Pobjoy, Debbie Liebling and Gabe Liedman. AwesomenessTV, Party Over Here Productions and Odenkirk Provissiero Entertainment will produce.
