Casting News - Kim Raver Returning to 'Grey's Anatomy' as Series Regular; Giancarlo Giannini Joins 'Catch-22'; Plus 1 More Update!

Casting News - May 21, 2018

ABC's Grey's Anatomy; Hulu's Catch-22; and Showtime's Kidding.

ABC's GREY'S ANATOMY
  • Kim Raver is officially returning as a series regular for the drama's upcoming fifteenth season. She was previously a series regular in three seasons of the veteran drama (from Seasons 6 to 8). She appeared in five episodes of the recently concluded fourteenth season - which had a huge setup for her to return to the drama on a regular basis.
  • She plays Dr. Teddy Altman, a cardiothoracic surgeon and Owen's (Kevin McKidd) best friend from his Army service. The two have long had romantic feelings for one another but were never single at the same time. She left at the end of the eighth season to accept a job at an Army hospital in Germany. She returned in Season 14 once Owen's presumed-dead sister, Megan (guest star Abigail Spencer), was discovered still alive. Later on, Owen went to Germany to be with Teddy. She refused after learning he and his ex-wife Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) were still seeing one another. But in the finale, she returned to Seattle where Bailey (Chandra Wilson) offered her the job of interim chief and Teddy revealed she was pregnant.
HULU's CATCH-22
  • Giancarlo Giannini will co-star on the upcoming limited series starring George Clooney, Kyle Chandler and Hugh Laurie. He received an Academy Award nomination in 1975 for Seven Beauties. He has also appeared in the James Bond films Quantum of Solace and Casino Royale.
  • He will play Marcello, the proprietor of a brothel in Rome. He is weathered and once handsome but still debonair. He loves to challenge the young American soldiers about their patriotism, their worldview and their sense of history.
SHOWTIME's KIDDING
  • Ginger Gonzaga has booked a recurring role on the upcoming comedy series starring Jim Carrey. She has previously recurred on Showtime's I'm Dying Up Here, Hulu's Chance, TBS' Wrecked and NBC's Champions.
  • She will play Vivian, a cancer patient at the hospital where Jeff's (Carrey) wife works.
