IFC has given a series order to the original sketch comedy Sherman's Showcase created by Bashir Salahuddin and Diallo Riddle (Late Night with Jimmy Fallon). The first season will feature eight episodes and debut in 2019.
The series will feature Salahuddin as host-parody Sherman McDaniel, taking viewers through time via music and comedy drawn from the four-decade library of his fictional musical variety show.
Salahuddin and Riddle executive produce with John Legend, Mike Jackson, Ty Stiklorius, Frank Scherma and Jim Bouvet. Get Lifted Film Company and RadicalMedia produce.
"When Bashir and Diallo brought us such a fully formed concept, universe and tone from the first pitch, we knew this going to be a special show for IFC," said Jennifer Caserta, President, IFC. "We're incredibly excited that they brought Radical and Get Lifted into the mix from the start because music is integral to this show's dynamite DNA."
