Charter Communications Orders 13 Episodes of 'L.A.'s Finest' Starring Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba

After the pilot was passed over at NBC earlier this year, Charter Communications has officially given a series order to the original drama series L.A.'s Finest starring Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba. The pickup marks Charter's first original scripted series. The first season will include 13 episodes, which will debut in 2019.

The drama is a spinoff of the Bad Boys film franchise. Free-spirited former DEA agent Syd Burnett (Union) has a fresh start in her new job as an LAPD detective. She is partnered with Nancy McKenna (Alba), a working mom who can't help but look at Syd's freedom with some grass-is-greener envy. These two have totally different lifestyles and approaches, but they both are at the top of their fields in this action-packed, character-driven procedural.

The drama also stars Zach Gilford, Duane Martin, Ryan McPartlin, Zach McGowan, Orli Gottesman and Ernie Hudson.

Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis wrote the pilot, which was directed by Anton Cropper. They executive produce with Union, Alba, Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman, KristieAnne Reed, Jeff Gaspin, Jeff Morrone and Doug Belgrad. Furthermore, Pam Veasey has joined the series today as co-showrunner alongside the co-creators. Sony Pictures Television, Jerry Bruckheimer Television, Primary Wave Entertainment and 2.0 Entertainment produce.

"Charter is excited to partner with top producers Sony, Jerry Bruckheimer and the rest of the incredible team behind and in front of the camera on our first Spectrum Original Content endeavor," said Katherine Pope, Senior Vice President and Head of Originals, Charter Communications. "Our content partnerships offer us a great opportunity to provide Spectrum customers with the dynamic, authentic and unique programming that drives value for their Spectrum subscription."
