YouTube Premium has today given a series order to the original dark comedy On Becoming a God in Central Florida starring Kirsten Dunst (Fargo). The first season will include 10 episodes, which will likely debut in 2019.
Set near Orlando in the early 1990s, the series centers on Krystal Gill (Dunst), a minimum-wage earning water park employee who will eventually scheme her way up the ranks of Founders American Merchandise: the cultish, flag waving, multi-billion dollar pyramid scheme that drove her family to ruin.
Robert Funke and Matt Lutsky created the dark comedy. They executive produce with Dunst, George Clooney, Grant Heslov, showrunner Esta Spalding and director Charlie McDowell. TriStar Television and Smokehouse Pictures will produce.
