Casting News - Ethan Peck to Play Spock on 'Star Trek: Discovery'; Joel Kinnaman to Star in Apple Drama; Plus 3 More Updates!

Apple's Untitled Ronald D. Moore Drama; CBS' Instinct; CBS All Access' Star Trek: Discovery; The CW's Dynasty; and Netflix's Unbelievable.

  • Ethan Peck has joined the cast of the drama's upcoming second season. The grandson of Academy Award-winning actor Gregory Peck, he starred for one season in ABC Family's 10 Things I Hate About You.
  • He will play Spock, the half-human, half-Vulcan science officer of the USS Enterprise. He is also the son of Sarek (James Frain) and foster brother of Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green). The role has notably been played by Leonard Nimoy and Zachary Quinto.
  • Maddison Brown has been cast as a new series regular on the drama's upcoming second season. She previously recurred on the Australian drama The Kettering Incident.
  • She will play Kirby Anders, the daughter of Joseph Anders (Alan Dale). She grew up in the staff's living quarters with her father and sides more with the downstairs occupants than the upstairs. She has a fraught history with the Carringtons, specifically a tempestuous relationship with Fallon (Elizabeth Gillies) that was the reason for her exile from the Manor years ago. While she returns to Atlanta to make amends with her father, she will continue wreaking havoc on the Carringtons.
  • Travis Van Winkle has landed a recurring role on the drama's upcoming second season. He is coming off of a five-season starring role on TNT's The Last Ship.
  • He will play Ryan Stock, a quiet, ex-military police officer from Nebraska. He travels to New York City as part of a task force in pursuit of a killer from his home town who he believes to be responsible for a murder in Manhattan.
  • Joel Kinnaman, Michael Dorman and Sarah Jones will play the lead roles on the upcoming drama created by Ronald D. Moore, Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi. Kinnaman starred for four seasons in AMC/Netflix's The Killing and one season in Netflix's Altered Carbon. He next appears as a series regular in Amazon's Hanna - which is said to be a one-year deal. Dorman stars in Amazon's Patriot which returns for its second season later this year. Jones starred for one season in Hulu's The Path and one season in USA's Damnation.
  • Kinnaman will play Edward Baldwin, one of the top NASA astronauts.
  • Dorman and Jones will play Gordon and Tracy Stevens, one of the prominent NASA couples.
  • Elizabeth Marvel and Liza Lapira have booked recurring roles on the upcoming limited series starring Toni Collette and Merritt Wever. Marvel recently starred for two seasons in Showtime's Homeland. Lapira is coming off one season as a series regular on CBS' 9JKL.
  • Like with all of the previous casting, no details were immediately released about the characters they will be playing.
