Casting News - November 2, 2018

The CW's All American; DC Universe's Stargirl; and Epix's Our Lady, LTD.

  • Luis Guzmán and Kurtwood Smith have been cast on the upcoming drama starring Ben Kingsley, Jimmi Simpson and Jacki Weaver. Guzmán previously starred for three seasons in CBS' Code Black and one season in Netflix's Narcos. Smith has starred for two seasons in Amazon's Patriot, which was created by Our Lady, LTD co-creator Steve Conrad.
  • Guzmán will play Hector Contreras, a sheriff whose misplaced hope in the romantic pursuit of a used car saleswoman drives him to engage in James' (Simpson) financially lucrative proposition. He mistakenly assumes the simplicity of detaining the meek-seeming Ma (Weaver) and Pa (Kingsley) for two weeks - only to learn the couple is anything but meek.
  • Smith will play Uncle Dave, the devoted brother of Ma, shunned in the community after a wrongful conviction drastically upends his humdrum way of life. But if ever restored in freedom and in reputation, he would have the ability to expose James' entire scheme.
  • Anjelika Washington has joined the cast of the upcoming drama starring Brec Bassinger. Her guest credits include Hulu's Runaways, Showtime's Shameless, CBS' Young Sheldon and TruTV's Those Who Can't.
  • She will be playing an undisclosed role that will be "familiar to DC Comics fans" according to series creator Geoff Johns.
  • Demetrius Shipp Jr. has booked a recurring role on the drama's first season. He is best known for playing Tupac Shakur in the 2017 film All Eyez on Me.
  • He will play Tyrone Morris, a young and powerful South Central gang member with an unpredictable personality who will complicate things for Coop (Bre-Z) and Spencer (Daniel Ezra).
