Comedy Central Gives Series Orders to Comedies 'Awkwafina' and 'Robbie'

Comedy Central has today given series orders to a pair of comedy series - Awkwafina created by and starring Awkwafina (Crazy Rich Asians, Ocean's 8) and Robbie created by and starring Rory Scovel (I Feel Pretty, Those Who Can't). 





AWKWAFINA - Loosely based on her life, Awkwafina stars as a twenty-something living with her dad (BD Wong) and grandmother (Lori Tan Chinn) while striving for a larger-than-life existence. Bowen Yang also stars as her more successful cousin.

Awkwafina co-created the comedy with Karey Dornetto and Teresa Hsiao. They will executive produce with Itay Reiss and Peter Principato. Artists First will produce the 10-episode first season.

ROBBIE - Scovell stars as a small-town basketball coach living in his father's (Beau Bridges) shadow who sees a path to greatness in his own son.

The cast also includes Sasheer Zamata and Mary Holland.

Scovell co-created the comedy with Anthony King. They executive produce with Will Ferrell and Adam McKay. Gary Sanchez Productions will produce the 8-episode first season.
