Netflix Gives Series Order to Live-Action Adaptation of 'Cowboy Bebop'

Netflix has today given a series order to a live-action adaptation of the 1998 Japanese anime series Cowboy Bebop. The first season will feature 10 episodes.

The new series tells the jazz-inspired, genre-bending story of Spike Spiegel, Jet black, Fay Valentine and Radical Ed, a rag-tag crew of bounty hunters on the run from their pasts as they hunt down the solar system's most dangerous criminals.

Christopher Yost wrote the first episode, with Andre Nemec, Josh Appelbaum, Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg serving as showrunners. They will executive produce with Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, Yasuo Miyakawa, Masayuki Ozaki, Shin Sasaki, Tetsu Fujimura and Matthew Weinberg. Shinichiro Watanabe - who directed the original series - will serve as a consultant on the Netflix version.

The series is a co-production between Netflix and Tomorrow Studios.
