Syfy has today renewed its original drama series Van Helsing for a fourth season. Furthermore, Jonathan Walker has been tapped to replace series creator Neil LaBute as showrunner for the new 13-episode season.
The showrunner change comes as LaBute has decided to focus on showrunning his new Netflix drama series The I-Land starring Kate Bosworth, Alex Pettyfer and Natalie Martinez. He will remain an executive produce on Van Helsing and will still write several episodes for the upcoming season.
The drama stars Kelly Overton, Jonathan Scarfe, Christopher Heyerdahl, Vincent Gale, Rukiya Bernard and Trezzo Mahoro.
Walker and LaBute executive produce with Chad Oakes, Mike Frislev, Evan Tyler, Dave Brown, Zadoc Angell and Daniel March. Nomadic Pictures, Dynamic Television and Echo Lake Entertainment produce.
"Having been in the writing room on Van Helsing since season one I'm excited to take the reins as showrunner from Neil LaBute," said Walker. "Season four will delve deeper into the iconic lore of the vampires and heir ultimate goals for this world. New villains will rise along with unexpected heroes joining the fight. We have a fantastic build planned for this season and I'm thrilled to share it with our dedicated fans."
