Casting News - Bradley James to Star in Netflix's 'The Liberator'; Leila George Books Recurring Role on TNT's 'Animal Kingdom'

Casting News - January 22, 2019

Netflix's The Liberator and TNT's Animal Kingdom.

  • Bradley James will play the lead role on the upcoming limited series created by Jeb Stuart and Grzegorz Jonkajtys. He previously starred in the second season of Netflix's Medici: Masters of Florence. He has also had a recurring role on The CW's iZombie.
  • He will play Felix Sparks, a cowboy from Arizona. He is the leader of the 157th Field Infantry Regiment E Company, a disparate group of Westerners who went on to become one of the most decorated combat units of World War II. A man of strength, compassion and conscience, Sparks was stubborn and defiant to superiors who put themselves and their careers over their men. During the course of over 500 days of combat, which saw Sparks rise from Second Lieutenant to Lt. Colonel - and the men under his command grow to over 10,000 - he continued to "lead from the front," sharing their sacrifices and challenges.
  • Leila George has been cast in a recurring role on the drama's upcoming fourth season. The daughter of actors Vincent D'Onofrio and Greta Scacchi, she recently starred in Universal's film adaptation of Mortal Engines.
  • She will play a younger version of Janine "Smurf" Cody (Ellen Barkin). A street savvy and scrappy survivor, she is a nihilist who doesn't expect to live past 30. She runs with a small crew of men a few years older than her, vets and surfers who steal to support their vagabond life on the road. She realizes very quickly that they are the ones who should be proving themselves to her.
