CBS Renews 'God Friended Me' for Season 2

CBS continues to give early renewals to its freshman series. After previously renewing FBI, Magnum P.I. and The Neighborhood, the broadcast network has today ordered a second season of the original drama series God Friended Me for the 2019-20 schedule.

The drama stars Brandon Michael Hall, Violett Beane, Suraj Sharma, Javicia Leslie and Joe Morton.

Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt created the drama. They executive produce with Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Marcos Siega. Warner Bros. Television, CBS Television Studios, Berlanti Productions and I Have an Idea! Entertainment produce.

"We're thrilled with how God Friended Me has performed on Sundays. It's one of the top three new series on television, has improved its time period significantly and continues a long tradition of prestige dramas for CBS on the night," said Kelly Kahl, President, CBS Entertainment.

"Our amazing cast and producers have done a wonderful job of bringing this series to life each week with humorous and inspirational storylines," added Thom Sherman, Senior Executive Vice President of Programming, CBS Entertainment. "Viewers have clearly embraced our characters and the positive message the show delivers."
